November 18th: Magic in the air

First day of Forgotten Carols rehearsals and I’m a happy guy.  Reunited with great friends anticipating the best season ever and already having way too much fun.  As we reviewed the blocking of the show and looked for better ways to bring the story to life we found some really fun stuff that’s been buried in the script for several years but now seems to be surfacing.  Can’t wait to share the discoveries with audiences on the tour.

Just before we got to work this morning the cast received gifts:  A copy of the new Forgotten Carols illustrated book, “A Christmas Miracle for Isaac and Eliza” and an all cotton throw/blanket with the Forgotten Carols logo on it.  Not only does it look great and VERY festive but I’ve already wrapped myself up in it in anticipation of winter movie nights at McLean Cinemas.

During rehearsal today I was infused with a spirit of deep gratitude.  How lucky am I to be able to spend the holiday season with so many wonderful people telling a story that means so much to me.  During the Shepherd song I sing the line “…but there was something magic in the air, that made me feel as if I had been there”   I felt the magic today, rehearsing in the same room that I first presented The Forgotten Carols to my family and some friends back in 1991.  I was thirty-nine and was hoping a modest one-man show of The Forgotten Carols with a regional back-up choir would help promote my new Christmas story and songs.  The show has certainly evolved over the last nineteen years, but at its core, the story’s still the same and from what I felt today it still allows me to feel the magic in the air.  If that’s not a M2B:) moment I don’t know what is.

I can hardly wait for the magic in the air to come to seattle. Good luck with your show in CA tonight. Big hugs to the cast and my favorite star: Lynne.

I love that you share your life with us! I have so much of my strenghth come straight from your willingness to give us a glimpse into your space as your songs whisper that it is gonna be alright-somehow it will be alright! Thank you.
Someday I will get to come see you in person~I hope it is when I can finally get to come see The Forgotten Carols…the story reminds me, especially when I sink low, that I am not “a forgotten carol.”

    Mr. McLean,

I am a 36 y/o single FATHER (in caps because I’m proud), Firefighter, friend and thankful man whom fell away from our church 17 yrs ago. The story, its complicated. I wasn’t always LDS, I wasn’t always anything. I was baptized November 20th 1993. I went to UVSC for their Fire Science degree, finished and started my career. Why I fell away, why I fell and let go of all that I love(d) is much deeper than I could explain in this comment box. I want to share my story with you and your family. Its a story filled with absolute triumph, a lot of pain, LETTING GO, and LETTING HIM IN. I was at the Forgotten Carols a week ago in Sacramento, California. It wasn’t what I’d thought is was going to be. It was a message deeper than most would understand. It was a blessing, you ARE a messenger and most didn’t know what hit them. Heavenly Father is all around us and especially around you and the message you bring. Not often do I or we for that matter get the opportunity and gift like the one you bring to the world. You have been given a gift that will and has changed so many lives. I would like to share my Testimony of how real your work is and what Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father and our common bond has done and can do if we LET HIM IN. My email, cwaterslucas@yahoo.com or lifeasapirate@gmail.com. My intention is to share the true power of forgiveness, love and the power of Letting Go. As a 36 y/o divorced, single father that works in a field of despair, I’ve been given the gift. I know your busy with the work our Heavenly Father has asked you to do (great job by the way) so I understand if you can’t write back. Your work and the work of your cast is a miracle, it is. Let me share mine with you.

    With Love,
    Rich Waters

I have been to Forgotten Carols in Idaho Falls except the 1st. This year will be my 8 yr olds first time going. This will also be our first year in SLC. You and the cast have become a regular part of our Christmas season. Good Luck to everyone. You guys rock and you’ll never know how many lives you touch!!

Went to the Forgotten Carols tonight for the 12th time! It was awesome as usual. My mission 2B :) is to share the story with those who’ve not heard it before. I learned something about myself tonight: I need to get out more and be an instrument in the hands of the Lord as a Sister in Zion. It’s going to be my challenge but I’m sure with a little help from the Lord and my faith in Him, it will all come to fruition. Thanks again Michael for a wonderful story that teaches us all that we can be together forever someday. I agree that those who are beyond the veil that they can hear us and that they are waiting for us to bring more to them.
