Monthly Archives: August 2010

August 9th: Another day off

Just didn’t want to write anything today so I won’t.  Well, I sort of already did, didn’t I? I’ll just say it makes me happy keeping some things to myself, and we’ll leave it at that.

August 8th: The ride

Needed a break so Lynne and I took a Sunday drive around the Heber Valley.  Just the two of us, alone.   Beautiful day, perfect weather.  M2B:) Heaven. Later in the afternoon we took my folks down to my sister’s for a birthday celebration for my nephew’s graduation from the U (and his birthday).   As difficult [...]

August 7th: 36 years!!!

Happy Anniversary to US!!! Thirty-six years ago at 9:30am we were married by Neal Maxwell in the Salt Lake Temple.  Thirty-six years later we’re wrangling grandkids, caring for aging parents, still trying to learn the rules of parenting AND celebrating the final day of FAIR DAYS here in the beautiful Heber Valley. This morning we went [...]

August 6th: Harry & Jim

Final day of the LDSBA convention 2010.  The booksellers looked cautiously hopeful about the coming fourth quarter midst the global economic downturn.  I carry a prayer in my heart for all of them. I haven’t been around much this week and I’ve been missing Lynne who’s been doing the heavy lifting carrying for ALL the family.  [...]

August 5th: Exceptional

This was an exceptional day.  It began early.  Well, early for me.  I was up at 6:30am getting ready for a recording session in Provo at 9.  I was excited about the session but also a bit nervous because I was working with a singer I’d never worked with before and there wasn’t a lot [...]

August 4th: The Pitch

The LDSBA convention is this week.  Today I did something I’ve never done before in the nearly three decades I’ve been attending this gathering of retail book store owners and authors and artists.  Today we did a variation of speed dating, only instead of trying to get a second, longer date,  the authors had three [...]

August 3rd: The perfect burger

Tonight we had dinner with our neighbors next door, the Rosses.  Keith grilled up the perfect burger.  I’m not sure if it was the beef or his grilling technique or the fact that it was on his brand new Weber grill.  Doesn’t matter.  It was fantastic.  If eating the perfect burger on a warm summer [...]

August 2nd: Mona!!!

Tonight John Batdorf and I performed in a shady spot in the park in Mona, Utah.  I’d never been to Mona before, but I’m looking forward to getting back.  What a great spot and what terrific people.  We did a two hour show  of Mission To Be Happy songs plus several from the Batdorf/McLean catalogue [...]

August 1st: Day of rest, really.

It was a day of rest and I really needed to rest.  I’m not saying my brain is dead, but almost.  And I really just want to savor the sabbath.  Tis bliss.

July 25th – July 31st: The week that was…joy

I know this is lame…one blog for a whole week but it has been one of those weeks.  Crazy busy, but not without daily M2B:) moments I want to share.  Lynne and I had a terrific date this week.  We made lunch last from 12:30pm til 10:00pm.  Did a ton of errands together and WENT [...]
