I hate shocks like that. Bedrock tremors. Holes left in the fabric. And the violence of accident. We are lulled by the chain of days into thinking that you live until you have finished - whatever. But sometimes, you simply leave in the middle, and the threads fall unwoven. It's a terrible thought. But there's that crossing the vail thing - and suddenly, you find that empty hands will be full soon enough, and that the old threads dissolve in the soul like a dream - an oh, so serious dream, interrupted -

Thinking about you. We too have had a big one recently. Our friend was murdered by her husband who is in law enforcement. It has sent ripples through community and through the police force. It has sent ripples deeply into our hearts as our daughter worked for this woman. Life is an interesting journey. Profoundly sad at times. Knowing that others share their hearts make the journey easier. We walk this journey with you.

So sorry about your sad news. There seems to be a lot of that going around. Having had our own recent sad news, we are hanging in there right with you.

I've been thinking alot this week about joy and sorrow. In my life I try to find joy in little things especially with my 4 active tots. In the past few weeks we have learned of tragic deaths of friends or their children. Then sometimes I feel bad for being so joyous.

But a talk that has come to mind is "Come What May and Love it" by Joseph B Wirthlin. He said, <i>"I think {mother} may have meant that every life has peaks and shadows and times when it seems that the birds don’t sing and bells don’t ring. Yet in spite of discouragement and adversity, those who are happiest seem to have a way of learning from difficult times, becoming stronger, wiser, and happier as a result."</i>

That message reminds me that life is not always cookies, and milk, and yellow balloons (do you know that song? I love it still!), but that joy can still be with us even during the hardest of times. This is a balance I am learning.

Anyhoo... thanks for letting me ramble my thoughts that I've been trying to put together this week. I'm sorry for the sorrow you and your friend are experiencing.

Michael - I'm so sorry. I've missed the daily updates, but I know there's always a reason when they're not there. Thoughts & prayers are going out to you.
