Didn’t leave the house all day. Didn’t step outside. Conducted all business either on my desktop computer or my iPhone. Didn’t need to get to the store or stop by the post office. Didn’t look in the mirror to make sure I was presentable in public. Didn’t worry about being late for anything. Didn’t need to fill up the car or pick up the dry cleaning. Didn’t fight any distractions as I worked on some new songs and practiced for an upcoming concert. Didn’t need new guitar strings or batteries for my tuner. Didn’t need ANYTHING I didn’t already have right here in my little office/studio.
So, you may ask, which was today’s most meaningful M2B:) moment. All of ‘em, all day long. I’m not kidding. All day I luxuriated in the sanctuary of home. I rejoiced in the power of technology to allow me to conduct business with people all over the world without catching a flight. I meditated in the silence. I animated over the phone when I needed to. I explored new ideas through the internet. I even spent a few moments today letting myself get excited about this upcoming weekend when the house will be full to the brim again with kids, grand-kids, in-laws, friends and Easter Egg hunters of various shapes and sizes.
The weather was lousy but I had a wonderful day. It was a gift. Tomorrow’s schedule will be different and I’ll be required to do many of those things I didn’t have to do today. I’ll shave. I’ll pick out clothes to wear. I’ll see other human beings in person. I’ll navigate traffic and post office lines and fuel pumps. I won’t spend all day longing for the gift I received today, but it will cross my mind and I’ll smile because I’ve just been happy since the moment I got up.
It’s probably an odd way to pamper yourself, just being alone in your home office all day, but it was just what the doctor ordered. Oh, and speaking of doctors, I didn’t have to sit in his office for an hour waiting for an appointment. And I didn’t have to recycle any trash. Didn’t have to get the mail. Didn’t get pulled into meetings that lasted too long or seemed unproductive…didn’t have to…..or…….
I hope you’re pickin’ up what I’m layin’ down. It was a happy day? I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that today marks the end of the first quarter of 2010: the year I began my full time mission to be happy. Could be it’s workin’….ya’ think?

Huh. Maybe I should try it…….
I love days like that! Good for you!
Hmmmmmm. Says the woman who has not done anything for a week but sit on the couch and puzzle over a story. Hair a mess. As long as nobody’s there, a tree can fall in the forest. But today I do need to haul in some supplies – Happy I still can.
Funny I should read this post today! Because all week I have been looking forward to today! A day of what you just described!!!
