March 1st: Cabinets and Counters

Today’s M2B:) moment was a no-brainer:  The granite counter tops were installed on the cool new distressed antique white kitchen cabinets that we ordered a month ago.  I’ve been thinking about this remodel, and working on it little by little for over six months, and today was SENSATIONAL!!!!

I’m still giggling about how great this is turning out.  There’s a bunch of work to do, but we’re at the point where you can SEE what it’s going to be like and you can feel the happiness in that room. And special blessings to the McGuire Bros. for coming through as promised.

There’s gonna be lots of M2B:) moments in this kitchen.  I’m smelling the dinners, the parties, the gatherings the reunions that are most definately going to be happening there.   I know I shouldn’t be focusing on this, but a part of me can hear people asking, “So who helped you design and decorate this masterpiece of a kitchen? Was it some genius architect you met in LA who offered his brilliant ideas in exchange for a song you wrote for his daughter’s wedding?  No.  Did you get inspired by some hip and happening magazine we mere mortals haven’t even heard of yet?  No.  Don’t tell me that it was you, I mean, you’re a songwriter…how could you have thought of something, envisioned something so…so….so breathtakingly exquisite yet functional and accessible at the same time?  What?  All you wanted was for it to make you and your family and friends ‘happy’?  You’re far too modest.  Far too modest.”

Actually, the best thing about this unusual kitchen Lynne and I have been talking about for several years now, is that we have “loved” the process.  Today’s step in the process was thrilling, but the good news for me is that it has been so joyful every step of the journey, and being in that kitchen is a M2B:) reminder that it’s in the process that the surprising daily joys are found.

Of course, I’d never want to suggest that the WOW!!! moments aren’t WOWONDERFUL!!!!

We had some happy moments with our new dishwasher! My daughter even decided that it should become part of the family!

I felt the same way when we did our living room & kitchen……did you use the same process to plan your kitchen as you do when you sit down to write a song?? LOL

We’re building another room on the side of the house. I am just catching the vision of actually doing some THINKING about the space. I’m not good at it. But I LOVE that feeling when you see something happening and it’s really cool – REALLY COOL.
