January 31st: Good news keeps getting better

The good news of the gospel isn’t a static thing for me.  It expands in my heart and soul as I’m able to receive it and it never, never, ever disappoints.  I believe it’s perfect, and though I cannot yet understand it perfectly, I’m happy when I get little moments of insight, little nuggets of truth.

My nature is to ask questions and then question the answers I’m given.  My questioning comes not from a basic skepticism but from a faith that there IS an answer and it will bring profound peace when I “get it” but until I do I’m trying to figure out how all the pieces of my faith fit into one great whole.  Some of the sweetest and most humbling moments in my life are when an unsettled question meets an “aha” moment and my heart goes WOW!! Ain’t THAT the truth!

I had one of those moments today and it’s not necessary here to share all the particulars.  I just want to express how happy I am that I opened up the sacred texts and then opened up my mind and heart and let heaven put some much needed light in my soul.   The Good News, I’m finding on my mission to be happy,  just keeps getting better.

Wonderful post, thank you for sharing it. It is a beautiful thing when we finally understand something that has been troubling us.

I got to share an aha moment in Church on Sunday as I spoke in sacrament meeting. The topic was keep the commandments, the question was why? the answer was many reasons, but my aha was the point of the talk- Keeping the commandments doesn’t take away my trials, but I can call on the powers of heaven to carry me through to the other side of the trial. In the middle of the storm I can stand and say “I’m alright, the Lord has got me”
Thanks for sharing your moment with us.
