January 30th: Dancing for Sadie

Finding happiness on a Saturday (particularly when you’re off work) is like finding sugar in a candy  store…It’s everywhere!!!

Sleep in=happy    Buckwheat Pancakes at Chicks Cafe Breakfast=happy   Goof off=happy    Watch cartoons with Grandson=happy  Skype your friends in Norway=happy  Read an interesting book you got at Christmas=happy  Learn a new game for game night at your next-door neighbors=happy   …..   like I said, the “happy” is everywhere, and it’s  an easy, natural happy.

BUT THE BEST HAPPINESS TODAY was found at 2:36pm.  My three month old grandaughter Sadie was placed in my charge while I was clearing out a few things in my studio.  I placed her in the overstuffed armchair in the corner of the room so she could watch her grandpa do his chores.  A few moments later she indicated that she’d rather be held.  As I approached the chair to pick her up I was OVERCOME and INFUSED with the spirit of the movie BABE.  I began doing  my own variation of the farmer’s jig in front of his beloved pig and as I did Baby Sadie started to light up.  The more animated I became the brighter her smile.  Sadie saw her first “old man doing the moon walk”  She dug it.  Then came grandpa break dancing…a twinkle of delight in her eye.  A bad version of a robot.  She didn’t care, she loved it.  I introduced her to the grapevine, step ball step change, the swim, the mashed potatoes, the jerk and, most beloved of all, the twist.

Baby Sadie Louise Stein was bouncin’ and gigglin’ and clearly the second happiest person at that moment on the planet.   I’m sure you can guess who was first.

I have a 1 year old granddaughter named Sadie, she yells at me until I take her in my arms. I just love it! Actually, can you post movies here? I would love to see you dance like that too……LOL.
